I wanted the powerful lyrics of this rap record to be read like a narrative, rather than a poem. So I made extra long reglet to give myself the exaggerated line lengths. I used a brayer to create background textures and add a cohesive dramatic element to the lyrics. I pulled out key words to give the viewer a sense of the message even from distance, deliberately using damaged sorts to add to the feeling of a fractured society. The full lyrics were printed in metallic copper ink with the hope of catching the light and drawing the viewer in to absorb the detail.
